THIS INFORMATION IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE! Tax Changes for Quebec Florists Effective 1-Jan-2011

Quebec Florists and Canadian Florists Who Deliver to the Province of Quebec

On 1-Jan-2011, the QST rate is changing. Please consult your taxing authority for the new tax rate. As an FTD Mercury user, you must change your tax rate within Mercury Administration on this date for all delivery zones within Quebec.

To change your tax rate:

  1. Launch Mercury Administration by double-clicking on the Mercury Administration icon on the desktop.
  2. In the System Login window, enter your login name and password and then click Login.
  3. Double-click Mercury Administration in the explorer pane.
  4. Double-click the Accounting folder.
  5. Double-click Tax Code. The Tax Code screen opens.
  6. For each tax code associated with a delivery zone in Quebec, change the QST column to the new QST rate. (NOTE: Your column name may be different if the value of the Provincial Tax Label box is something other than QST.)
  7. Click Apply to save your changes. You will receive a message instructing you to perform an FTD Shutdown and an FTD Startup to make your changes effective.
  8. Close Mercury Administration.

You now need to perform the FTD Shutdown and FTD Startup. You must close all instances of FTD Mercury prior to doing this, including any running on any client PCs.

To perform an FTD Shutdown and an FTD Startup:

  1. Click the Windows Start button, point to All Programs, then to FTD Software, and click on FTDShutdown. This will begin the FTD Shutdown process.
  2. Once the FTD Shutdown is complete, click the Windows Start button, point to All Programs, then to FTD Software, and click on FTDStartup.
  3. Once the FTD Startup is complete, you will see the Login window. Log in using your username and password.

Non-Quebec Florists

The changes on 1-Jan-2011 to the QST rate do not require any changes in FTD Mercury for florists who do not deliver to cities in the Province of Quebec. However, you should keep in mind that this tax rate increase will affect the value of orders sent to Quebec. Consult a Quebec taxing authority for the new rate amount so you can adjust your order amounts accordingly.
