The Deny message allows you to refuse to accept a request to cancel an order. When this message is sent in response to a Cancel Message, the order in question is reported to the appropriate Clearing House. If a Confirm Message is sent after a Deny message for the same order, the Confirm message overrides the Deny message.

This procedure explains how to create a Deny message through a Message Search. By locating the Cancel message you are denying, Mercury Direct will complete most of the Deny message for you.

  1. From the Mercury Direct main menu, click Deny a Cancellation. OR From the menu bar, click Order, then click Deny a Cancellation (DEN).
  2. Click the magnifying glass icon in the Order Number field to access a Message Search.
  3. In the Message Search window, locate the CAN message that you are denying. To do this, you can select a message type of CAN and then click the Search button. (See “Message Search” on page 55 for assistance.)
  4. When you locate the CAN message that you would like to deny, highlight the CAN message and then click Select. The DEN message will reappear with most of the information completed for you.
  5. Add notes as needed in the Reason or Note Text field.
  6. Type your name in the Operator field.
  7. Click Submit to send the message during the next Mercury Direct Communications session. If you would like to send the message immediately, click Submit, then click the Transmit Now button in the main menu.
