You may want to configure some options for downloading and installing updates. For example, you may want to specify the installation period when updates are installed. You may also want to block automatic downloading for some period (for example, if you are going to be performing some sort of extended maintenance).

Setting the Installation Period

If you are automatically downloading and installing updates, you can specify the time that FTD Mercury will install the downloaded updates. This allows you to ensure that updates are installed in a timely manner, but also that they do not disrupt your day-to-day operations. By default, FTD Mercury will install downloaded updates between 3:00AM and 5:00AM.

To set the installation period for downloaded updates:

  1. In the system tray, double-click the Automatic Software Updates icon for FTD Mercury. The Automatic Software Updates window opens.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. In the Installation Period area, in the Start Time field, enter the starting time for the installation period.
  5. In the End Time field, enter the ending time for the installation period.

Blocking Download Dates

If you need to block automatic software update downloads, you can easily specify a date range for the block. No downloads will occur during this period. When the specified timeframe ends, downloads will resume automatically.

To designate a period of time where no downloads will occur:

  1. In the system tray, double-click the Automatic Software Updates icon for FTD Mercury. The Automatic Software Updates window opens.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click the Blocked Dates tab.
  4. In the Block Dates area, in the Start Date field, enter the starting date for the period where you do not want any downloads.
  5. In the End Data area, enter the ending date for the period where you do not want any downloads.
  6. Click Add. The block period is added to the Blocked Dates for Updates list.

Removing a Previously Scheduled Download Block Period

If you had previously configured automatic software updates to not occur during a specific time, you can remove the block period if your situation changes.

To remove a previously scheduled download block period:

  1. In the system tray, double-click the Automatic Software Updates icon for FTD Mercury. The Automatic Software Updates window opens.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click the Blocked Updates tab.
  4. In the Block Dates for Updates list, select the block period you want to remove.
  5. Click Delete.
