Message Search allows you to locate an order or message in your message log that has been sent or received by your store through the Mercury Network. To begin a Message Search, click the Message Search button on the Mercury Direct Main Menu.

When you access Message Search, the first twenty five orders and messages are displayed in a list form. Messages are sorted by message date, listing the most recent message at the top of the list. Drag the scroll bar on the right side of the list to scroll through the orders and messages. Only the first twenty five most recent messages are displayed. If you would like to view an additional twenty five, click the More button. You can continue clicking this button to view additional batches of twenty five orders and messages.

The Message Search Screen

The Message Search screen is separated into two different sections: Parameters and Message List.

Parameters

The Parameters section allows you to specify your search parameters. In other words, here you can tell Message Search what type of message or order you are looking for. You can be as specific as you would like to be, depending on what type of message you are looking for. For example, you might just want to view incoming FTD orders, or orders with the date of August 22nd. Or you might be looking for a particular order, so you will want to specify the order date and recipient name.

A Message Search can be completed in a variety of ways. You can use a combination of any of the following methods in the Parameters section of the Message Search screen by clicking in the check box so that the field becomes active, and then entering the search criteria. After all of the criteria is entered, click the Search button to display the search results.

Parameter Description
Message Type Select the Message Type field if you would like to search by the type of message (for example, ORDER, ASK, ANS, and also Incoming, Outgoing, or both [In/Out]). The first drop down field in the Message Type field allows you to select the Mercury Message type (ORDER, ASK, ANS, etc.) that you are searching for. You can further refine your search by selecting in the second field if you would like to search for either Incoming, Outgoing, or both (In/Out).
Order Recipient Name Select the Order Recipient Name field if you would like to search by the recipient name. Then type the name of the recipient in the text field.
Order Delivery Date Select the Order Delivery Date field if you would like to search by the delivery date. Then type the delivery date in the text field.
Message Date Select the Message Date field if you would like to search by the date that the message was sent or received. Then type the message date in the text field. (See “Entering Dates in Date Fields” on page 24 for valid date formats.)
MD Message Number Select the MD Message Number field if you would like to search by the Mercury Direct Message Number. Then type the message number in the text field. Mercury Direct assigns this number automatically to all orders and messages when sent or received by Mercury Direct. This number can be found for any given message in the Mercury Direct # field in the Message Search list.
Mercury Number Select the Mercury Number field if you would like to search by Mercury Number. Then type the Mercury Number in the text field. The Mercury Network assigns a Mercury Number automatically to all orders and messages that are sent through the Mercury Network.
Other Florist Code Select the Other Florist Code field if you would like to search by the sending/filling florist’s florist code. Then type the florist code in the text field.
Service Select the Service field if you would like to search by wire service. Then click the down arrow in the drop down field and select which wire service messages you would like to search (or select all). Then, in the Your Code field, click the down arrow in the drop down field and select your florist code for that wire service.

After you enter your search criteria and click the Search button, your search results will display in the bottom half of the window. If any crucial information is missing, Mercury Direct will warn you, and will highlight the field(s) that must be completed.

The Maximum field displays the maximum number of orders and messages that Message Search will display at one time. By default, Message Search displays a maximum of 25 orders and messages at a time, listing the most recent order or message at the top of the list. You can click the More button to view additional batches of 25 orders and messages.

NOTE: Instead of clicking the More button multiple times, you can specify the number of orders that you would like to view in the Maximum field, and then click the Search button.

Message List

The Message List makes up the second half of the Message Search screen. Here, all of the orders and messages display that meet the criteria that is specified in the Parameters section (after you click the Search button). The following information displays for each message in the Message List.
NOTE: The fields listed here are the default fields and may be changed. To learn how to customize the fields in the Message List, see “Customizing the Message List (The Grid Tab)” on page 79.

Viewing and Printing Message Detail

The message list in the Message Search screen only displays a summary of information for each order or message. If you would like to view the detail of a particular order or message, you can either double click on the message in the message list, or you can highlight the message and then click the Detail button at the bottom of the screen. A separate message detail window opens.

When you view the order or message on the screen, the order or message is then flagged as “Viewed”.

There are two ways that you can print message detail. When viewing the message detail on the screen, you can click the Print button at the bottom of the window. Or you can print message detail from the main Message Search screen. To do this, highlight the message you would like to print in the message list, then click the Print button at the bottom of the screen. After an order or message is printed, it is flagged as “Printed”.

You can also send a Mercury Message from this screen. Click New Related Message, select the message type you want to create, and most of the information will be completed for you.

Creating New Messages/Responding to Messages

You can create and send messages directly from the Message Search screen. To do this, right-click on any message in the message list and select the appropriate response. You can then fill out any information necessary and click Submit.

Copying Orders

If you want to copy an existing order to create a new order, you can do so in the Message Search window. Copying an order brings up a new order screen, with all of the original order’s information already filled in for you. You can only copy outgoing orders.

To copy an order:

  1. Perform a Message Search to locate the order you want to copy.
  2. Right-click on the order and select Copy. The Create an Order screen opens, with all of the information completed for you.
  3. Change or add any information as needed, and then click Submit to send the order.
