Before You Install
Prior to installing the upgrade to Microsoft SQL 2005, you must install any critical updates from Microsoft. You can click the yellow shield icon in the Windows system tray (next to the clock) to launch the updates. The icon should have a tool tip that reads “Updates are ready for your computer. Click here to download these updates.” Follow the on-screen prompts to install any available critical updates. Once you have all critical updates installed, proceed to installing SQL 2005 Standard.
