You can add value to unexpired gift cards. The reloaded gift card is valid from the date of the reload for the expiration period set in Mercury Administration.
To add value to a gift card:
- On the FTD Mercury Main Menu, click Point of Sale. The Point of Sale window opens.
- Swipe the gift card that you are reloading. The Description field (in the Products area) will show the number of the gift card. If the gift card is active, a message will pop up with the gift card balance and expiration date. When you see the message, click OK. If the gift card is expired, a message will pop up stating that the gift card is expired. You cannot add value to an expired gift card.
- In the Amount field, enter the value to be placed on the gift card. The sale price without extension is the value that will be loaded on the gift card.
- If you are offering a discount on the gift card, enter a percentage in the Discount field.
- Click Complete. The Payments window opens.
- In the Payments area, enter payment information.
IMPORTANT: You cannot use a gift card to pay for a gift card.
- Click Complete to complete the sale, or click Save to save payment information and return to the Point of Sale window. Once the sale is complete the customer receipt prints out.
