THIS IS PRELIMINARY INFORMATION AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITH THE RELEASE OF FTD MERCURY X2.
Important
Before you upgrade your server, use this CD to check that not only your server meets the minimum requirements, but also all of your clients do as well. Your clients MUST be on the same version of FTD Mercury as your server. Clients that do not meet the minimum requirements will not function once you upgrade the server.
Minimum Requirements for FTD Mercury Servers
Before upgrading to FTD Mercury X2, your server must be running either FTD Mercury 8.x, FTD Mercury X, or FTD Mercury X1. If you have not yet installed either of these versions, contact the Mercury Technology Assistance Center at 1-888-309-2244 for assistance. You must also be running SQL Server 2005. If you have yet to install it, the CD(s) were included with this upgrade. Additionally, you must process credit cards over the Internet (CCAPI) and Mercury Messages over the Internet.
Windows Server 2003 (SP1 or later) is required if you have 5 clients or more; either Windows Server 2003 (SP1 or later) or Windows XP Professional (SP2 or later) can be used for less than 5 clients.
Upgrading the Server to FTD Mercury X2
Before you upgrade, FTD strongly recommends you back up your current FTD Mercury database.
To upgrade your server:
- Close all running programs, including FTD Mercury.
- Perform an FTD Shutdown by clicking Windows Start, pointing to All Programs, then to FTDSoftware, and clicking FTDShutdown.
- Insert the FTD Mercury CD into the CD drive of your server (the installation will take a few seconds to begin). If the installation does not begin automatically, click the Start button on the taskbar and click Run. Type d:\setup.exe (where d is your CD drive) and click OK.
- Click Install FTD Mercury.
- On the Prerequisites window, click Install.
- On the Welcome panel, click Next.
- If you are running any software programs that must be closed, the installer lists those programs and asks you to close them now. Close the programs and click Retry.
- Read the license agreement. Scroll to the end of the agreement and click Yes to accept it.
- If you want to install the FTD Mercury screen saver and/or the FTD Mercury wallpaper, select the option(s) and click Next.
- Review the installation settings and click Install.
- The wizard informs you when the installation is complete. Ensure that Yes, I want to restart my computer now is selected and click Finish.
- After the server reboots, log into FTD Mercury, then eject the CD and store it in a safe place.
