The Cancel message allows you to request that a filling Member or the Host Computer cancel a previously sent order. If the Cancel message is sent before the order is processed by the Host Computer, the Host will cancel the order (not transmit to the filling florist) and send you a confirmation of the cancellation. However, if the Cancel message reaches the Host after the order has been processed and sent to the filling Member, the filling Member can either Confirm the Cancellation (see “Confirming a Cancellation (CON Message)” on page 43 or Deny the Cancellation (see “Denying a Cancellation (DEN Message)” on page 44).

This procedure explains how to create a Cancel message through a Message Search. By locating the original Order message that you would like to cancel, Mercury Direct will complete most of the Cancel message for you.

  1. From the Mercury Direct main menu, click Cancel an Order OR From the menu bar, click Order, then click Cancel an Order (CAN).
  2. Click the magnifying glass icon in the Order Number field to access a Message Search.
  3. By default Message Search will list all incoming and outgoing orders if you click Search. Click Search to list all incoming and outgoing orders, or specify additional information to narrow your search, and then click the Search button. (See “Message Search” on page 55 for assistance.)
  4. When you locate the order that you would like to cancel, highlight the order and then click Select. The CAN message will reappear with most of the information completed for you.
  5. In the Reason Type field, click the down arrow and select your reason for cancelling the order.
  6. Add notes as needed in the Reason or Note Text field.
  7. Type your name in the Operator field.
  8. Click Submit to send the message during the next Mercury Direct Communications session. If you would like to send the message immediately, click Submit, then click the Transmit Now button in the main menu.
